The American National Standard Institute (ANSI) Z-10-2005 document is a recently published voluntary consensus standard about "Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems". It uses generally recognized management system principles that are compatible with similar quality and environmental management system standards such as International Standards Organization (ISO) standards. This compatibility assists with the integration of the ANSI Z-10-2005 benchmarks into other business management systems in order to improve overall organizational performance. The purpose of the standard is to provide organizations with an effective tool for continual improvement of their workplace safety and health systems. State agencies that have a safety and health system that complies with this standard will minimize workplace hazards which will lead to a reduction of the frequency and severity of worker injuries. SAFETY ISSUES IN RETURN TO WORK |
When an employee sustains a work-related injury or illness, each
agency is attempting to bring that employee back to work in a safe,
timely manner. Some employees are returning to their pre-injury
position and some are returning to transitional duty for a short
period of time. This course will explore how you should involve
your safety personnel step-by-step in the return to work process.
It will also discuss what you should do if your agency does not
have safety personnel. Return-to-work should not impede the employee's
recovery. However, if the environment is causing an exacerbation
of the pre-existing injury or causing new injuries, your employees'
rehabilitation will be impacted. Ergonomic issues, safety issues,

and to help prepare participants to take the national exam for certification,
either as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or a Senior Professional
in Human Resources (SPHR). The course covers the six major components
of the human resources body of knowledge: strategic management,
workforce planning and employment, human resource development, compensation
and benefits, employee and labor relations, and occupational health,
safety, and security. One exciting feature of this course is the
on-line component. During the ten-week course, participants will
